The Story behind La Placita

La Placita Market was once the heartbeat of the Kearns neighborhood—a beloved Mexican grocery and deli where families stocked up on fresh produce, spices, and the kind of Carne Asada that kept people coming back. Its prime location, nestled beside local homes, made it an essential lifeline for countless residents.
But in the early morning hours of January 15, 2025, tragedy struck. A fire tore through the market and surrounding storefronts, reducing the block to ashes. In an instant, the community lost more than just a store—they lost a gathering place, a source of nourishment, and a piece of their culture.
Among those deeply affected was Adrian, owner of AG Design Build. He’d been a loyal customer, with a special love for La Placita’s Carne Asada. When he heard about the fire, he didn’t hesitate. Adrian reached out to the market’s owners and made a promise: to rebuild La Placita—not just as it was, but even better. For the neighborhood. For the families. For the soul of Kearns.
